How customers phrase a real request

The short city questions read like search queries. The prompts on Bay Area AEO's four industry pages read like a person talking: “I need a chiropractor in Fremont for lower back pain. Someone who doesn't just crack and send you home.” Or: “Who should I call to replace my gas furnace with a heat pump in Concord? I want someone who handles the rebates.”

That is how many people now use ChatGPT and Claude. They describe the situation, add a preference, and expect a short list with reasons. The assistant has to find businesses that match every part, and it explains its choice in the reasons it writes.

Reading the requirements

Each prompt splits into a service, a place and one or more requirements. The dentist prompt asks for San Mateo, a dentist, gentleness with anxious patients and Delta Dental. Under query fan-out an assistant may check each of those separately: a listing for the location, the practice's own pages for insurance, reviews for how anxious patients describe their visits.

The observation records which requirements the answer addressed for each named business. If the assistant names a practice and says it takes Delta Dental, the insurance fact reached the answer. If it names the practice with no reason, the assistant found the business but little to say about it, which points to answer-ready content and review language.

The reasons are part of the reading

A conversational answer usually explains its picks: “known for gentle care,” “handles rebate paperwork,” “experienced nurse injector.” Those phrases come from somewhere. Often they echo reviews or the business's own service pages. Description accuracy, one of the four readings, checks whether each reason is true and whether it matches what the business wants to be known for.

Follow-up questions

Conversational use also invites follow-ups such as “Which of those is open Saturday?” or “Do any of them speak Spanish?” The monthly panel keeps the opening prompt fixed so months stay comparable. The requirements inside it show which follow-up facts a business should publish clearly, because the assistant will look for them the moment a customer asks.

From prompts to niche panels

The industry prompts set the tone; the forty niche panels supply the detail. The food and drink panel, for example, adds questions about dog-friendly breweries, gluten-free birthday cakes and wineries that need no reservation. Each niche panel lists its own sample questions and the signals that answer them.
