An AI-fluent market

Bay Area AEO's South Bay page makes the point directly: this is where a lot of the AI tools now recommending local businesses were built. The Mountain View page says customers there are among the most AI-fluent in the world, and that many of them work on the tools themselves. The Cupertino page describes families who ask AI before they choose a tutor, dentist or restaurant.

That fluency shows in the questions. A Sunnyvale customer asks for a CPA who handles RSU and ESPP taxes. A Palo Alto customer asks for an architect who can take a remodel through design review. A Mountain View customer wants an electrician for an EV charger install.

San Jose sets the scale

San Jose accounts for about half of the region's population on these estimates, with 980,000 residents and an estimated 382,000 adults who use AI chatbots. Its page describes five large communities (Vietnamese, Mexican-American, Indian, Chinese, Filipino), each with its own business districts, and competition that is intense in almost every category. Its panel names Story Road, Almaden Valley and downtown, three places inside one city where assistants narrow to two or three names.

Language and culture in the panel

The Milpitas panel asks for a dentist who speaks Mandarin and for the best boba near the Great Mall. The Cupertino panel asks for Taiwanese breakfast. These questions reward businesses whose listings and pages state languages spoken and dishes served in the words customers use.
